Rocksteady:
Rocksteady is now offering a fantastic opportunity for children to become part of a real school band!

If your child loves music and wants to shine on stage, this is their chance!  For more information on how to sign up, please visit the Rocksteady website at www.rocksteadymusicschool.com.

Children can choose from vocals, keyboard, guitar, or drums.  Spaces are limited, so don’t miss out! Some instruments may have a waitlist option, so sign up early to secure your spot.

Head lice:
Head lice are often prevalent in Primary schools. To avoid them spreading please:
• Check your child’s scalp regularly and treat promptly
• Long hair should be tied up or braided
• Frequent wet hair combing and use of prevention and repellent sprays

Further information is available on the NHS website: www.nhs.uk/conditions/head-lice-and-nits/

Is My Child Too Ill for School?:
Deciding whether your child should stay home when they’re unwell can be tricky.  To help, the NHS provides clear advice on what symptoms require a rest day and what can be managed at school.

You can find the full guidance here: “Is my child too ill for school?” – NHS [nhs.uk]

Autism Family Support Service:
The Autism Family Support Service is a free monthly online drop-in for parents & carers.  The You Are Not Alone community is a friendly and safe space where you can come and learn about autism and PDA, ask questions, connect with like-minded people or simply listen and learn from other people’s conversations.  If you would like to join the next drop-in session on Tuesday 3rd February, please see attached flyer for more information.

Parking and Respect for Our Neighbours:
Please ensure that when dropping off or collecting children you do not block driveways, doorways or access points for our neighbours and please refrain from parking on double yellow lines.  We kindly ask everyone to park considerately and be respectful of the surrounding community. Thank you for helping us maintain positive relationships with our neighbours.

Requesting Special Leave of Absence for any Medical or Exceptional Circumstances
Please note that the form for requesting special leave of absence for any medical or exceptional circumstances is on the website.

The form needs to be printed and signed and handed in to the office. If you do not have a printer at home then you can come and collect a copy of the form from the school office.

New Government regulations took effect from 19 August 2024 which affect penalty notices issued for an unauthorised leave of absence (holidays, funerals, weddings etc). Just to remind parents/carers that if they take their children out of school without authority for 5 or more days (which do not have to be consecutive), then the following will apply:

  1. If you have not incurred a penalty notice relating to this child/children in a rolling 3 year period since 19 August 2024, then the penalty notice will be charged at the rate of £160.00, per parent/carer per child, if paid within 28 days. This will be reduced to £80.00 if paid within 21 days of receipt of the notice. Failure to pay the Penalty Notice will result in Surrey County Council considering legal proceedings against you in the Magistrates Court.
  2. If you have incurred a penalty notice relating to this child/children since 19 August 2024, the rolling 3 year period will be activated from the date of the first penalty notice and the second penalty notice will be charged at the flat rate of £160.00, per parent/carer per child, if paid within 28 days. There will be no reduction for payment within 21 days. Failure to pay the Penalty Notice will result in Surrey County Council considering legal proceedings against you in the Magistrates Court.
  3. If you have incurred 2 penalty notices relating to this child/children in the rolling 3 year period since the first penalty notice was issued, then you will NOT receive a third penalty notice – Surrey County Council will have no option but to consider a prosecution, per parent/carer per child, in the Magistrates Court under s 444 Education Act 1996.Surrey County Council is not responsible for authorising pupil absence and therefore cannot withdraw any Penalty Notice requests without the written permission of the Headteacher.School News:
