Parental Consent and Right to Withdraw:
Religious Education: we follow the Surrey Locally Agreed Syllabus. Understanding the beliefs and opinions of other is an important part of demonstrating mutual respect and tolerance (one of the defined British Values). Religious and Non-Religious Worldviews (such as humanism) are taught to raise understanding and awareness. Parents do have a right to withdraw their child from Religious Education and should book an appointment with the Headteacher via the office should you wish to pursue this option.
Relationship and Health Education: Opportunities to understand the content of the parts of the curriculum related to puberty and human reproduction are provided to parents before these are taught. We will also seek parental consent. Should you wish to withdraw consent please do book a meeting with one of the senior leadership teams who will meet with you. Please note that the Science aspects of the curriculum related to this are statutory and children cannot be withdrawn from these elements.
